The Diverse Books Tag

july-2016wrap-up

I was tagged by Casey @ adoptabookaus to do the Diverse Books Tag! Thank you so much! I’d been eyeing this tag for quite a while now!

The Rules

  • Credit the original creator, Read Diverse Books.
  • The Diverse Books Tag is a bit like a scavenger hunt. I will task you to find a book that fits a specific criteria and you will have to show us a book you have read or want to read.
  • If you can’t think of a book that fits the specific category, then I encourage you to go look for one. A quick Google search will provide you with many books that will fit the bill. (Also, Goodreads lists are your friends.) Find one you are genuinely interested in reading and move on to the next category.

Find a book starring a lesbian character.

Beauty Queens

I honestly don’t think I’ve read any books with a lesbian main character, like there have been side characters but not any main characters which is a problem I think. I think Beauty Queens by Libba Bray did actually if my memory serves me right. Though Beauty Queens wasn’t my favorite book…oh wait, no I think there was a transgender girl, not a lesbian…hmm…wait no there was definitely a girl on the island who liked other girls…? Idk man honestly I read this book a while ago. Feel free to yell at me in the comments haha

Find a book with a Muslim protagonist.

77203

The Kite Runner. I read this book for school last year and it was my favorite book we read for sure!

Find a book set in Latin America.

9807262

Huh another one I don’t think I’ve read. A book on my tbr set in Latin America is Wanderlove by Kristen Hubbard, but I think based on the cover the protagonist is white? Hmm..

Find a book about a person with a disability.

15507958

Me Before You! I guess I probably shouldn’t say anything for fear of spoiling, but there’s a character with a disability!

Find a science-fiction or fantasy book with a POC protagonist.

20983362

Passenger! By Alexandra Bracken, the love interest is black if I remember correctly when I read this quite a while ago also.

Find a book set in (or about) any country in Africa.

Image result for things fall apart

Things Fall Apart which I read in 9th grade I believe. I’m pretty sure my entire class hated this book but I liked it!

Find a book set in South Asia (Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, etc.)

Image result for the star touched queen

The Star Touched Queen. I was going to use The Kite Runner for this one, but is also took place in America some.

Find a book written by an Indigenous or Native author.

Image result for night by elie wiesel

Night counts right? This book is about Elie Wiesel’s experience in Natzi Germany and Hitler’s concentration camps.

Find a book with a biracial protagonist.

Image result for to all the boys i've loved before

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before! I love this book! Lara Jean is a great protagonist, and we’re getting a third book apparently?

Find a book starring a transgender character or about transgender issues.

Image result for the art of being normal

The Art of Being Normal. I don’t want to spoil anyone so I won’t really get into the transgender issues in this one, but this book was really worth reading.

And that is all! I tag everyone who wants to do this tag!

(Now back to homework, I swear there aren’t enough hours in a day with the amount of homework I get!)

The Wine Book Tag!

The Wine Book Tag!

Louise @ Louise Loves Books tagged me to do the Wine Book Tag! I don’t drink because obviously I’m not quite 21 yet, but let’s get started!

Box Wine – a book people will judge you for liking but you like it anyway!

Twilight! I read this book when I was younger and the last two movies were coming out. Actually, I was able to watch Breaking Dawn part 2 in theaters, which was pretty cool. I definitely wouldn’t be all like omg read this book because there are so many tropes in this series that I hate, but since it was the first real YA book I read, I was fine with these tropes.

Organic Wine – a book that doesn’t have any added crap in it and is just written perfectly.

This is one of my favorite Colleen Hoover books and I just thought it was perfect! Tragic but at the same time adorable.

Gluehwein – a really spicy, Wintry read.

I usually use the winter Stephanie Perkins winter collection, I think my true love gave to me is what it’s called, but I’m going to go with Shatter Me because I don’t know it kind of feels wintry.

Sauvignon Blanc – a really sharp and aggressive read that you couldn’t put down.

Yeah this was such a compelling and fast paced book and trilogy full of surprises and plot twists that I couldn’t predict. I absolutely loved it!

Pinot Noir – a book you didn’t expect much from but ended up getting blown away.

I didn’t really like Leigh Bardugo’s other trilogy that much, so Six of Crows didn’t really appeal to me that much until I read it and completely was blown away. I loved this book soooo much and can’t wait for the Crooked Kingdom next month!

Chardonnay – a good summer read that was super zesty.

Ooh I just read this last week and was totally engrossed. The concept and the tension between the characters throughout the book was great!

Rose – a book that has a little bit of everything in it.

Six of Crows could also work for this one. Throne of Glass though has action, romance, betrayal, violence, it’s just such an amazing series!

Shiraz – a full-bodied book that is dark and juicy.

I actually didn’t like the Young Elites that much but went on to the Rose Society, book 2, anyway, and really loved the Rose Society a lot more and found it so dark and awesome.

Merlot – a smooth, easy read with a soft finish.

This was such a cute book that I finished in one sitting and was just so easy to read. Kasie West continues to amaze me.

Champagne – your favorite book.

I have many favorite books, Harry Potter coming to mind right away, but also this series. I honestly think that The Mortal Instruments, similar to Harry Potter, Twilight, the Princess Diaries and the Mysterious Benedict Society changed my life for the better.

This or That Book Tag

 This or That Book Tag

Ayunda @  Tea and Paperbacks has tagged me to do the This or That Book Tag!

The Rules:

  • Mention the creator of the tag (Ayunda @ Tea and Paperbacks).
  • Thank the blogger who tagged you!
  • Choose one of the options, you don’t have to tell the reasons why you chose that but you can also do them if you want to.
  • Tag 10 other people to do this tag to spread the love!

One: Reading on the couch or on the bed?

Definitely bed. Beds are versatile in that you can read laying on your stomach or sitting up

Two: Male main character or female main character?

Female main character, mainly because I’m a  female, though it’s always refreshing and interesting reading from a male main character

Three: Sweet snacks or salty snacks when reading?

Sweet! I’m a sweet addict!

Four: Trilogies or quartets?

Probably quartets because sometimes trilogies think that they need to cram for the last book so a fourth book would tie up some loose ends.

Five: First person point of view or third person point of view?

First person probably, because again, the majority of books I read are in first person.

Six: Reading at night or in the morning?

I get most of my reading done at night so night is my answer.

Seven: Libraries or bookstores?

Libraries! Free books, I can check out as many as I want!

Eight: Books that make you laugh or make you cry?

Laugh! I love funny books and what’s even better are books that aren’t meant to be comical like Harry Potter, but certain characters just make you laugh anyway, like George and Fred. And Percy Jackson is also hilarious.

Nine: Black book covers or white book covers?

Black, that way my fingerprint smudges or anything else won’t ruin the book too much.

Ten: Character driven or plot driven stories?

I feel like the characters make the story more than the plot for me.
