September 2015 Wrap- Up

Hi there! I meant to post a Top Ten Tuesday yesterday but i had waaay too much homework and studying to do.

I also have a lot today, but i really wanted to post my September Wrap Up on the last day of September.

So, here we go! My month of reading:

I actually read a little more than i thought i would. I was in a reading slump this month, and in the last few days i managed to come out of it with the books:

The Fill in Boyfriend by Kasie West and The Cage by Megan Shephard. (And yay, they were on my Top Ten Fall TBR list, so 2 down, 8 to go)

There will be a review for both of these next month, The Fill in Boyfriend on Friday, and then The Cage sometime next week.

I also finally read Every Last Breath by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Book review here

I read Wither and Ship Breaker from my school library, Wither was great, i’m pretty sure it’s a series of some sort, and Ship Breaker was ok. Very different from what i usually read, but the school librarian recommended it.

My guilty pleasure romance novel this month was Wallbanger by Alice Clayton. This book was hilarious! Loved it!

Of course, i read Queen of Shadows as well. Book review here

And finally, i read Poison Study! I don’t think i’m going to be finishing the series though. 😦 It just didn’t grip me like i though it would. Ok, and i just couldn’t with the name of the main character, because it’s my mom’s name, so every time they said it, it freaked me out. 🙂

And yes, that is it for my month in reading. Did we read any of the same books? Do you have any recommendations? Leave a comment!

Thanks for reading!

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas- Book Talk/Review

Hello everyone, slightly late, but here is my Queen of Shadows book review!

SDC12801

I’ve been waiting for this book since i read Heir of Fire when it came out a year ago, so you can say that i was pretty anxious to get my hands on this baby.

Summary:

Um, hello, it’s the fourth book, you shouldn’t need a summary, if you came here because you wanted to get into Throne of Glass, then i would suggest reading a Throne of Glass review first. BUT, this is where Aelin comes back from Wendlyn ready to fight for her kingdom, and embrace her identity as Aelin, shedding Celaena behind her. Things happen, go read the book if you haven’t.

My Thoughts:

The cover is GORGEOUS! I think though that Heir of Fire is prettier…? Hmm, maybe. I loved this book a lot, everything happened that should have happened, with the exception of a few things.

Spoilers: (Random and out of order)

Chaol seemed like a real dick in this book, and i feel like the character Nesryn was only created to be his ‘match’.

The Manon/Dorian thing sounds weird and interesting, but i feel like many people are like NO because they’re still holding out hope for Dorian/Aelin in the next two books.

YES! When Rowan showed up, i almost cried the way Aelin flung herself at him. Literally throughout the whole book is Rowan and Aelin saying sexual things to each other. And yes for Lysandra killing Arobynn.

Oh, poor Aedion. He was going to do the whole Blood Oath thing, but Rowan already did that.

Kaltain got her revenge! Ha ha, and Elide is going to find Celaena, but she’s going to get Aelin instead, that’s going to be funny. Ok, Lorcan is a brat, and Gavriel is Aedion’s father! Woah!

Why are people hating on this book?

I’ve shipped Rowan and Aelin since meeting Rowan in Heir of Fire. I never felt anything with Dorian and Aelin, and well, she made her feelings clear for Chaol. So many people simply disliked this book because their ship didn’t come true or whatever.

GUYS! Are you kidding me?

First of all, there are two more books, and anything can happen then. Second of all, trust Sarah J. Maas, and third of all, if Aelin is happy, then so should the readers! And even if Rowan and Aelin didn’t end up together, i would still be happy with Chaol or Dorian, because i just love Aelin and trust her choices.

Verdict:

Amazing book, what’s going to happen in the next two though? I think though, that despite loving this book so much, it’s my least favorite, with Heir of Fire being my favorite, then Throne of Glass, then Crown of Midnight.

I feel like Aelin pretty much falls in love with a lot of people in this series. Dorian, Chaol, Rowan. I mean, it’s not bad completely, but many readers do not support Rowan, and i think it’s because each book Aelin has a different love interest. It’s also confusing with the whole, now she’s Aelin thing.

I’ve typed Celaena instead of Aelin waaaay too many times in this review. It’s slightly confusing on who she is; and when she ‘turns’ into Celaena. Like really? Were the first two book a lie then? Beautiful cover, amazing writing, i loved it. 5 out of 5 stars. I can’t wait till the 5th book, and i can’t wait to see what happens next!

That’s it for my review! Share you comments and thoughts below! Do you agree with me? Disagree?

Thanks for reading lovelies!

WWW Wednesday- September 9, 2015

WWW Wednesday is a lovely meme formerly hosted by MizB @ Should be Reading and was revived by Taking on a World of Books

The goal is simply to answer the three W’s which are as follows:

1. What are you currently reading?

2. What did you recently finish reading?

3. What do you think you’ll read next?

Let’s do it!

Currently Reading:

I’m actually reading quite a few books, i don’t know how this happened, but oh well. I’m reading Wither by Lauren Desefano, Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella, and Never Always Sometimes by Adi Alsaid

Recently Finished Reading:

I have just finished Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder, Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas, and Wallbanger by Alice Clayton. (Wallbanger is an adult romance by the way)

Going To Read Next:

To be honest, this hasn’t really changed that much since the last WWW Wednesday i did. Every Last Breath by Jennifer L. Armentrout.

I also picked up some books at the school library which i will read soon, i got Ship breaker and the first book in the Chaos Walking Series. Yay! Finally! Everyone is probably thinking: It’s about time! Calliope is finally going to read a Patrick Ness book! I’m just as excited as you are about this development, trust me.

So that is it for this WWW Wednesday! Leave some comments if you’ve read the books that i’m planning to read, have anything else in common with me, or have suggestions for me on what to read next. 🙂

Thanks so much for reading!

My bathing suit is wet, and not from the pool, but from my disgusting, dirty sweat

This is a rant and not related to books at all, well, Queen of Shadows is mentioned, but that’s it.

My bathing suit is wet, and not from the pool, but from my disgusting, dirty sweat.

That actually rhymes, hmmmm, i might turn that into a poem or something. Oh! Speaking of poems, one of my poems was published in an online magazine called Mimp Mag, click here to read it (It’s not one of my best, i just wrote it one day after a good run) You guys should submit stuff to the magazine if you want to 😉

Anyways, the last two days, with the exception of receiving Queen of Shadows this morning, have been horrible.

I swim on my school’s Varsity team, the thing is, practice starts two weeks before school starts in the mornings, and my parents can’t drive me, because they work full time.

So i usually get dropped off at school in the morning for practice, and then i take the public bus home. Let me tell you, the public bus sucks. It’s never on time, and the stop that i have is so bad and nearly invisible, that the bus always misses me.

So yesterday, the practice was changed to the afternoon, so i took the bus there no problem, but then on the way back, there was so much traffic from rush hour, that the bus was half an hour late, and then it missed me. Thank god the next bus was only 10 minutes in between because of the lateness of the first one. I was just soooo mad and tired by that point, and then i had to walk home from the bus stop as well. That’s why i didn’t post anything yesterday, cause i got home late and tired.

Then today, just now, half an hour ago, i’m walking to the bus stop, in my swimsuit so i don’t have to waste time changing at school, and i get to the bus stop, and it should be coming in 10 minutes, when my phone buzzes. Turns out, because of the heat, practice was cancelled.

Now, i’m sweating and really hot, and was waiting for the air conditioned bus. So now i have to treck all the way back home, and now i’m sweating even more.

I then lift up my shirt to wipe my sweaty face, and this is what i see:

It’s disgusting. I’m actually sweating through my bathing suit! I’m just happy that practice was cancelled before i got on the bus, otherwise, i would have been soooooo mad.

Ironic how practice was cancelled because of a heat wave. Hello? I’m walking in it! Could have mentioned practice was cancelled half an hour ago, before i left the house!?

I’m sooooo sorry about this rant, i’m just really hot and irritable. Hey, you know what solves that?

150903_0001

Sorry for the blurry photo, the camera was being icky. I’m just going to go read this baby, because that will definitely cheer me up.

Ok, i might do that Summer Reader Tag that Giselle tagged me in, then go read Queen of Shadows, just so i feel like i’ve been productive this week.

Ha ha, thanks if you actually made it to the bottom of this post 😉 If you have any comments, or stories like this of your own, please, you’re welcome to share them.

Ahh, i’m actually cooling down now, and am not as hot. And sorry for any typos, i wrote this up quickly 🙂
