The Mulan Book Tag!

Image result for mulan

The lovely Sam @ River Moose Reads tagged me to do the Mulan Book Tag! Thanks so much Sam!

The Rules:

  • Mention the creator (Kirsty and the Cat Read)
  • Thank/mention the person who tagged you
  • Match books or characters to the questions below
  • tag as many people as you like🙂

1. Reflection “When will my reflection show who I am inside” – An inaccurate book cover that doesn’t really reflect what the book is about

Image result for vampire academy original cover Image result for bloodlines book Image result for vampire academy new covers

I definitely always say that Richelle Mead’s Bloodlines and Vampire Academy books have very inaccurate covers, mostly in that there are girls on the covers zoomed into their faces with weird poses and angles. Both series are actually amazing and aren’t reflected with those zoomed in faces. They also did a new cover release that just puts a VA over the originals which I don’t know if that’s any better.

2. Mushu – A character with a lot to prove

Image result for harry potter and the sorcerer's stone

I’m thinking Snape for this one, just in terms of proving himself to the readers and Harry that he was a good guy this whole time.

3. “I’ll make a man outta you!” – A character who develops the most OR a book with some kick-a** training scenes

Image result for shatter me book

It’s been a while since I read this trilogy, but I feel like Juliette develops a lot

4. “A Girl Worth Fighting for” – A ship you will defend till your last breath

Image result for heir of fire Image result for a court of thorns and roses

I have sooo many ships! I called Rowan and Rhysand though before anyone else did and were all supporting Dorian/Chaol and Tamlin so I was quite proud of myself for that. I also absolutely LOVE Jamie and Claire from Outlander and of course the million other ships I have.

If you want to check out some more of my favs you can search ‘valentines’ into the search bar of my blog and I have a bunch of posts I did for valentines day last year that you can check out!

5. Huns – A book/character that gives you the creeps

Image result for shadow and bone

The Darkling is complicated, he’s creepy but at one point I think I liked him.

6. Mulan – Your favorite bada** female protagonist

Image result for outlander book 1 Image result for percy jackson book Image result for mortal instruments books Image result for darkfever

Oh my goodness I can name sooo many! Claire Fraser, Annabeth Chase, Thalia Grace, Zoe Nightshade, Feyre, Aelin, Lysandra, Hermione, Emma Blackthorn, Clary Fray, Isabelle Lighwood, Mac from Darkfever!

Thanks so much for reading!

If anyone wants to do this tag, go ahead, I’d love to read your answers!

2017 Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag

Copy of My Dream Book Conference Panel! (1).png

Hello friends, Raven @ Dreamy Addictions tagged me to do the Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag, which is fitting considering we just started the second half of the year! I’m also 4 books ahead of schedule with my Goodreads Reading Challenge, having read 54 out of my goal of 100 books!

I also did this tag in 2016, you can look at it here

1. The best book you’ve read this year

29939230 23766634

I couldn’t choose just one, so my top two picks are ‘A Conjuring of Light’ by V.E. Schwab and ‘A Court of Wings and Ruin’ by Sarah J. Maas.

2. Your favorite sequel of the year

‘Bloodfever’ by Karen Marie Moning. My best friend introduced me to the Fever series and I have seriously been loving it. I just got the third book and can’t wait to read more!

3. New releases that you haven’t read but really want to

Image result for when dimple met rishi Image result for flame in the mist

‘When Dimple Met Rishi’ by Sandhya Menon and ‘Flame in the Mist’ by Renee Ahdieh are two of the books I’m really hoping to get to this month in July and are my highly anticipated new releases for this month as well!

4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year

Wonder Woman: Warbringer (DC Icons, #1) Warcross (Warcross, #1) 31450852

Duh ‘Wonder Woman’ by Leigh Bardugo since I did not manage to snag a copy at BookCon. Also Marie Lu’s new book, ‘Warcross’ and then also the 6th Throne of Glass installment, ‘Tower of Dawn’.

5. Your biggest disappointment

For some reason despite its beautiful cover, ‘A Thousand Pieces of You’ did not impress me and I don’t know why. I think the time travelling thing just really confused me. Also The Girl from Everywhere was another disappointment along with Snow Like Ashes and These Broken Stars.

6. Biggest surprise of the year

I really enjoyed ‘The Murder Complex’ by Lindsay Cummings which surprised me because based on reviews I read I heard it wasn’t that great, but I am glad that I enjoyed it!

7. Favorite new to you or debut author

‘The Hate U Give’ by Angie Thomas hands down. I didn’t even need to think about this one.

8. Your new fictional crush

Hmm probably Barrons from the Fever series. Despite the shenanigans that the author keeps hinting about him that we don’t know so I can’t tell if he’s a good or bad guy.

9. New favorite character

Definitely Vin from the Mistborn series. Don’t shoot me…but I still haven’t read the third book despite reading the first two waaaay back in January…soz

10. A book that made you cry

‘Code Name Verity’ definitely. Such an emotional book. Also I re-read ‘The Book Thief’ for school and almost cried again while reading.

11. A book that made you happy

This cute thing, ‘The Upside of Unrequited’ by Becky Albertalli.

12. Your favorite book to movie adaptation that you’ve seen this year

I don’t think that I’ve been to the movie theatre at all in 2017, I know I saw Fantastic Beasts and Miss. Peregrine back in 2016 but huh…nope

13. Favorite book post or review you’ve written this year

My ‘Beastly Lights’ review that you can find here

14. The most beautiful book that you bought/received this year

This gorgeous conclusion also known as ‘Always and forever Lara Jean’ by Jenny Han.

15. What are some books you need to read by the end of the year

Image result for kings cage Image result for lord of shadows Image result for game of thrones book 1

Image result for ruby circle Image result for stars above Image result for book 3 mistborn

Clearly a lot of books…I’m reading Lord of Shadows right now! But I had to stop because my e-books are expiring soon…also most of these books are birthday gifts from last September…also the Ruby Circle was on my 2016 tbr part of the mid year book freak out tag…

I tag:

The Orangutan Librarian

Lillian @ Lair of Books

Dimple @ Enthralling Dimple

Lauren @ Comma Hangover

Feel free to do this tag if you want to as well, link back to me and I’d love to check it out! 🙂

I hope you have a wonderful day,

Panic! At the Disco Book Tag!

The Blogger Behind the Books Tag!.png

I haven’t done a book tag in a while, but Sam @ River Moose Reads tagged me to do the Panic! At the Disco tag a few days ago and since I love Panic and heard one of their songs this morning at the nursing home I volunteer at, I figured it was a sign to do this tag.

The Rules:

1 – Tag the creator (RiverMoose-Reads)
2-Answer the questions
3 – Name your favorite song from each album.
4 – Tag 5+ people!
5 – Have fun!

Album: A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out

Fav song: Ahhh so many good ones on this album, I can’t choose! Ugh okay Lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off
A book you can’t help but love
Image result for simon vs the homosapien agenda Image result for anna and the french kiss Image result for six of crows
Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli. Just warm fuzzy feelings all around. Also Anna and the French Kiss and Six of Crows.

Album: Pretty. Odd.

Fav song: Nine in the Afternoon
A book that confused you (in a good or bad way)
Image result for lady midnight Image result for confusing YA books
Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare, I think I finished this book rather quickly and just sat there stunned like what did I just read? So I guess confused in a good way? Also Mara Dyer, that ending was a big woah what is going on.

Album: Vices and Virtues

Fav song: The Ballad of Mona Lisa
A book you have conflicting feelings over
Image result for more happy than not Image result for carve the mark Image result for caraval by stephanie garber
More Happy Than Not, also History is All you Left me. Adam Silvera’s books in general I’m conflicted and can’t decide if I love them or not. Also with Carve the Mark, there have been many things said about this book which is leaving me conflicted. Same thing with Caraval, I don’t know if I like it or not.

Album: Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die

Fav song: Girls/Girls/Boys
A long title you love
Image result for if i tell you i love you then i'd have to kill you book
I’d tell you I love you, but then I’d have to kill you. This book was great when I was a pre-teen, I loved this series so much but their titles were so long!

Album: Death of a Bachelor

Fav song: Okay once again, I love nearly every song on this album, but if someone made me choose then…jeez this is hard. Fine, LA Devotee
A great book with a terrible movie
Image result for percy jackson book Image result for the mortal instruments books
Do I even need to explain?

Thanks so much for reading! Hope you have a lovely day, pass all your AP and IB exams and survive the 4th marking quarter!

I tag whoever wants to do this tag!
Stay awesome Sassenachs!-Calliope Fraser
P.S. Junior prom is next Saturday! Eep!

The Diverse Books Tag

I was tagged by Casey @ adoptabookaus to do the Diverse Books Tag! Thank you so much! I’d been eyeing this tag for quite a while now!

The Rules

  • Credit the original creator, Read Diverse Books.
  • The Diverse Books Tag is a bit like a scavenger hunt. I will task you to find a book that fits a specific criteria and you will have to show us a book you have read or want to read.
  • If you can’t think of a book that fits the specific category, then I encourage you to go look for one. A quick Google search will provide you with many books that will fit the bill. (Also, Goodreads lists are your friends.) Find one you are genuinely interested in reading and move on to the next category.

Find a book starring a lesbian character.

Beauty Queens

I honestly don’t think I’ve read any books with a lesbian main character, like there have been side characters but not any main characters which is a problem I think. I think Beauty Queens by Libba Bray did actually if my memory serves me right. Though Beauty Queens wasn’t my favorite book…oh wait, no I think there was a transgender girl, not a lesbian…hmm…wait no there was definitely a girl on the island who liked other girls…? Idk man honestly I read this book a while ago. Feel free to yell at me in the comments haha

Find a book with a Muslim protagonist.

The Kite Runner. I read this book for school last year and it was my favorite book we read for sure!

Find a book set in Latin America.

Huh another one I don’t think I’ve read. A book on my tbr set in Latin America is Wanderlove by Kristen Hubbard, but I think based on the cover the protagonist is white? Hmm..

Find a book about a person with a disability.

Me Before You! I guess I probably shouldn’t say anything for fear of spoiling, but there’s a character with a disability!

Find a science-fiction or fantasy book with a POC protagonist.

Passenger! By Alexandra Bracken, the love interest is black if I remember correctly when I read this quite a while ago also.

Find a book set in (or about) any country in Africa.

Image result for things fall apart

Things Fall Apart which I read in 9th grade I believe. I’m pretty sure my entire class hated this book but I liked it!

Find a book set in South Asia (Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, etc.)

Image result for the star touched queen

The Star Touched Queen. I was going to use The Kite Runner for this one, but is also took place in America some.

Find a book written by an Indigenous or Native author.

Image result for night by elie wiesel

Night counts right? This book is about Elie Wiesel’s experience in Natzi Germany and Hitler’s concentration camps.

Find a book with a biracial protagonist.

Image result for to all the boys i've loved before

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before! I love this book! Lara Jean is a great protagonist, and we’re getting a third book apparently?

Find a book starring a transgender character or about transgender issues.

Image result for the art of being normal

The Art of Being Normal. I don’t want to spoil anyone so I won’t really get into the transgender issues in this one, but this book was really worth reading.

And that is all! I tag everyone who wants to do this tag!

Stay awesome Sassenachs!-Calliope Fraser

(Now back to homework, I swear there aren’t enough hours in a day with the amount of homework I get!)
