November Wrap Up 2016

November, unlike October, strangely enough was a great reading month for me! I read 9 books and have completed my Goodreads challenge of 100 books with 103 books read right now.

I started the month off with two amazing books!

I loved both of these books, 5 stars each! I had every intention of reviewing them both but I read them during such a busy time in school that I didn’t get the chance.

I thought that Bright Side was great because I hadn’t read a book in a while that evoked such emotion from me in a while. This book reminded me why I read and why I love books and the tears were just flowing constantly.

Similarly with It Ends With Us, I was lucky enough to read two such amazing books in a row, and yes the tears were there when I read this one too. For me it wasn’t that this book hit home, because it didn’t quite, but it was that the reader was basically like the main character. I loved him too at first and even after the things he did I still couldn’t paint him as the utter villain. And the way Colleen Hoover wrote this book just reminded me why Colleen is such a great writer. This one did feel a bit different than her other books actually though, and I had to remind myself that this was my beloved CoHo writing it.

I then read these two:

At first I really liked Love and Gelato, but by the end I was just bored by the predictable plot, so I gave this book 3 stars. It was good, just very standard YA formula.

Wolf by Wolf for me had a great plot but dragged on towards the end so I gave it 3.5 stars.

I read the Star Touched Queen!

There was a lot of hype surrounding this book and so I was excited to read it, especially since Sarah J. Maas blurbed it. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t really enjoy this book and gave it a 2 star rating. It just confused me and nothing really happened and the plot didn’t really exist. Sorry if this is an unpopular opinion.

I also started the Angelfall Trilogy!

I read the first two books this month, and I am reading the third one right now. So far I like this trilogy, I love the chemistry between the two main characters, and if the third book has a good ending, I think I’m going to give the trilogy a 4 star rating overall. I’m hoping to review the trilogy when I finish it. Can we also just talk about how beautiful these covers are?!

And lastly I read Underwater and the Art of Being Normal

At first I really liked Underwater, but then the love interest started to annoy me and I was really not into the romance, so 3 star rating it is. I did quite like the plot though and the way things were revealed throughout the book.

The Art of Being Normal was great, and I loved reading about a transgender character because in YA it’s still new to have transgender people. Also, the “plot twist” how did I not get that??? There were about a million signs all of which I somehow blew past! That being said the plot for me was kind of slow, which is why I’m giving it 3.5 stars. Though on Goodreads I gave it 4 stars since half stars don’t exist which sucks.

So that’s it from me! What did you read this month? Let me know in the comments, and link me up to your November Wrap Ups!

October 2016 Wrap Up

Wrap Up!.png

Wow. So. Yeah. October has been a busy month. I barely posted and I barely read anything. I managed to sneak some books in at the end of the month bringing my grand total of books read this month to 5. And I’m 94 books into my Goodreads reading challenge of 100. Go me! I’m pretty confident that I’ll be able to finish 6 books between November and December.

So anyways, this month started off with Cream of the Crop by Alice Clayton

I gave this book 3.5 stars. I read this on the second day of October so I don’t exactly remember everything about this book but I think I enjoyed myself. Sorry about how lame that sounded. I definitely think that the first books, Nuts was a lot better in terms of pacing and romance. I thought that the main characters in this one were a little difficult to picture in my head and get into.

I also read this amazing beauty known as the Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo.

5 wonderful stars! I meant to write a review actually and I might still get around to it but this book was so big and beautiful and I loved it! It was just as gripping and exciting as Six of Crows and the adventures and plot twists were great!

I was also sent Unfathomable Chance to review by K. T. Munson

I really liked this book! The main character was strong and sassy, just the way I like ’em. 3.5 stars, and I should have a review up pretty soon I hope!

I also re-read Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

I had to read this book again because it’s part of a library book trivia competition I’m doing. I must say I enjoyed reading this again much more than I enjoyed reading it the first time. 3.5 star rating on the re-read, and it was so strange to see Genya and Zoya in this book after reading the Crooked Kingdom.

And lastly, I just finished this one last night, The Score by Elle Kennedy

I don’t think my library has any copies of the goal yet otherwise I would be all over that. I loved this book! 5 stars! On par with the deal I think! I’m so excited for the Goal! Do you see all of these exclamation points?! Allie and Dean were just such a great storyline and Dean working with the younger kids hockey team was just the cutest. I’d definitely recommend this one if you’re looking for a quick romantic NA novel!

Anyhoo, thanks for reading! Happy Halloween if you live in a place where it’s celebrated! What books have you read this month? Link me up to your wrap ups and I will be sure to check them out!

September Wrap Up 2016

boyfriend

Hello everyone! September is now over and I’ve survived my first month back at school. Is it June yet?

Despite how inactive I’ve been in the blogging world, I can say that I read 10 books! I hope everyone has had a great reading month, and let’s get on with the wrap up!

First I read a late summer read edited by Stephanie Perkins.

I love these anthologies that Stephanie Perkins is putting out! Some of the authors I’ve heard of and read, but some of them were completely new to me and it was great also reading short stories from some of my favs like Cassandra Clare and Leigh Bardugo.

In my opinion, the Winter anthology was better but I still enjoyed this one. I like how the cover is similar to the winter anthology but more summery.

I’m happy that I finally got to this book this summer, since I finished it before the 21st, it counts! I’d give this book a 3.5 star rating.

Then I read 3 YA contemporaries from my 365 day epic reads book wheel

Truthfully, I was not a fan of either of the first two, and gave them both 2.5 stars.

Trust Me I’m Lying felt like a knockoff spy book with plot twists that I saw coming from a mile away. I also didn’t really click with Anatomy of a Misfit because of the main character. I really couldn’t relate at all to her.

Even in Paradise for me was a slow build up but by the end I was in tears, 4 stars. Originally while reading I was a little bored and wondering when the actual plot would start to actually start, but by the middle I was sucked right into this world and by the end I was slightly crying into my pillow at 11:00 at night.

I also read NA and adult some romance books.

Image result for the mistake by elle kennedy Image result for roman crazy Image result for my bad boy summer

The Mistake was really good! I loved the characters and the sass levels between everyone. I don’t think this one was as good as the Deal, so I’m giving it 4.5 stars. I just got the Score from the library so I’m excited to start on that next.

Roman Crazy really disappointed me because I love Alice Clayton’s writing so much but the romance for me didn’t work, I felt that there wasn’t really any chemistry and the main character to me felt kind of hypocritical. I would give this one 2 stars.

My Bad Boy Summer was sent to me to review and I liked it! The main character was easily manipulated by a boy that she met that I really hated, but that was part of the whole plot, so 3.5 stars.

I also read some YA fantasy!

Image result for harry potter and the cursed child Image result for a darker shade of magic    Image result for empire of storms

Harry Potter and the Cursed child was not for me, 2 stars. I know there are a lot of mixed review about this book, and I understand that it’s a play but the plot to me felt very fanfiction like, and not even good fanfiction. I really tried hard to like it but I just couldn’t.

I really liked A Darker Shade of Magic! This is my favorite V.E. Schwab book so far, and I’ve heard so many great things about this book that I was so glad I liked it! 4 stars and I’m excited to read the next one!

And then my queen Empire of Storms is getting a 4.5 star rating and I just finished it today. Funny enough I finished it in my yearbook class and was crying with that ending. Empire of storms had kind of a slow build, and the reason why it’s not getting 5 stars is that chemistry that I loved between Rowan and Aelin in Heir of Fire is gone for me. Instead the Lorcan and Elide feels were real though, and Manon and Dorian too!

Thanks for reading! How many books did you read this month? Link me up with your wrap ups!
