It’s been a while since my last discussion post, but here it is!
Do you ever think about a series that you really love and imagine yourself re reading the first book again just because you love that series so much and it gives you such nostalgic feelings???
This is definitely true for me with series such as Harry Potter, Twilight and the Mortal Instruments.
More recently, I thought to myself that I would like to re read the first Outlander book and the mere thought of going through that amazing experience again had me feeling so warm and fluffy about my babes Claire and Jamie.
Diving back into a world that I know I freaking loved makes me excited and returning feels like I’ve taken an extended vacation that I’ve just returned from.
The characters are fresh and new yet old.
I know a lot of people, most of them non book lovers, say that what’s the point of re reading books? Sometimes I re read books to catch up on what happened before the next book, such as Red Rising in which I had to re read Red Rising and Golden Son to actually know what was going on in Morning Star.
But other times, I re-read just for that nostalgic feeling. This doesn’t happen often for me though, and I feel like I want to re read more books, but why should I when there are new books waiting?
Whatever the case may be, I know that a re read of Outlander is in order this summer, as well as a binge watch of the second season.
I remember that before I got a goodreads account I used to always re read books, but now that I have a challenge set, I want to finish it reading new books.
Before BookCon last year, I even re read Throne of Glass right before I got it signed by Sarah J. Maas.
The point is, reading books again and experiencing that world again always feels both new and old.
What are your thoughts on re reading books? Do you experience the same nostalgia?

I totally get the nostalgia! After, I saw Mockingjay Part 2 last year, I felt so sad that there will be no more movies to look forward to, so I re-read the books. I love re-reading because it’s basically just like re-living everything! I also re-read books when I miss the characters in it, lol is that weird? And another thing why I love re-reading is when I’m in a reading slump I just read my favorite books because there’s guaranteed very low or no disappointment, and that mostly gets me out of my slump.

Oh yes I get that missing the characters feeling, and yeah re reading to get out of a reading slump is what I do too 😉

I LOVE rereading books and experiencing all the nostalgia that it brings. Most of my favorite books are ones that I’ve reread multiple times over the years, especially ones like Harry Potter, LOTR, and John Green’s books. I feel as though I’ve grown up with these books, and rereading them is a way of keeping them in my life somehow.

Ooh yes exactly, I’ve re read harry potter so many times over the years too, and I’ve read the fault in our stars 2 or 3 times. That’s a great way to put it, that these books are part of our lives 😉

I don’t reread book very often. I will occasionally reread a series before picking up the newest book, but that’s rare. Most book don’t seem to hold up to re-reads for me. Then again, I have read some books, like A Court of Mist and Fury or Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban that I can’t read enough. I have to ban myself from reading them. 😛

Oh yes harry potter is definitely one that I keep re reading. Ooh I’m in the middle of a court of mist and fury right now and it’s soooo good!

I’ve only ever re-read The Hunger Games. I’m up to 3 times so far, and I’d read them again. I hardly ever like a book enough to read it again, even if it was a 5 star read. Sometimes, I’ll re-read parts of a book if it’s in a series and can’t remember what happened.

Nice post!❤️I don’t normally tend to re-read books, partly for the same reason as you, I want them to count towards my Goodreads challenge😜. I do plan on re-reading some of my favourites, though! Also, another reason I don’t usually re-read is because there are just so many new books I want to read… Why waste 2 days reading a story I already know when there’s a new one waiting just around the corner?

Very true, there are so many books out there and re-reading often isn’t the best option (especially for goodreads) but it’s always good to read favorites every so often 😉

I absolutely agree with you, I love the nostalgic feeling when I re-read a book. I tend to remember the big things that happen in books, and it’s nice to be re-reading chapter where you can’t remember what is about to happen. I also like that I remember how I felt when I fist read the book.

Yep exactly! Though there are so many new books waiting to be explored, it’s always nice to re visit books at times 🙂
