Goodreads Synopsis:

Darrow would have lived in peace, but his enemies brought him war. The Gold overlords demanded his obedience, hanged his wife, and enslaved his people. But Darrow is determined to fight back. Risking everything to transform himself and breach Gold society, Darrow has battled to survive the cutthroat rivalries that breed Society’s mightiest warriors, climbed the ranks, and waited patiently to unleash the revolution that will tear the hierarchy apart from within.

Finally, the time has come.

But devotion to honor and hunger for vengeance run deep on both sides. Darrow and his comrades-in-arms face powerful enemies without scruple or mercy. Among them are some Darrow once considered friends. To win, Darrow will need to inspire those shackled in darkness to break their chains, unmake the world their cruel masters have built, and claim a destiny too long denied – and too glorious to surrender.

My Thoughts:

I LOVED THIS BOOK! Honestly, this trilogy is one of my favorite of all time.

The writing was perfect! The fact that Darrow hid everything from everyone, including the readers made this book so gasp filled! By the end though I managed to catch on that Darrow always saves the day, still though, I wasn’t quite sure if he had a plan or not by the end of the book with that last action scene.

I was really scared for the ending because it’s always hard to end a trilogy, but my favorites always have great endings so I was relieved that the ending was so amazing!

There was only one problem that I had, the fact that Darrow spent a YEAR with the Jackal being tortured and in a “black box”. And I feel like Pierce Brown made that year seem like nothing, Darrow bounced back so fast I had to double check that he’d been imprisoned for A YEAR. And he barely showed any mental side effects from it!

My affection for Sevro just grew with this as well as for Victra. All of the characters just grew on me and whenever there was a death I mourned them deeply. There was a lot more violence and death in this one and I was still left with questions.

One thing I am so very curious about is what happens to Lysander, like how he is when he grows up and if he turns out okay.

I’ve heard that Pierce Brown is working on something else involving the Red rising characters so I can’t wait to see what else he has in store for us!

Verdict:

A magnificent and action packed ending to a fabulous trilogy!

My Rating:

5 out of 5 stars!!!!
