My Thoughts: 

Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda is a quick read, and took me about 4 hours to read in one sitting. (I was in the car driving to Florida from New York, so yah, I had some time to kill).

I loved and connected with Simon instantly and his adorableness.

So one of my friends recently came out to me and then I read this book kind of right after coincidentally, and it gave me perspective I guess…maybe helping me understand them a bit better? Hopefully.

I feel like Simon and Blue are gay couple of the year, and I truly think there need to be more LGBT books out there, because they can really help teens struggling.

If I was LGBT Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda could have even helped me come out to my parents and friends. Teens who read would really benefit from more diverse books that pertain directly to their real lives.

But enough of that. THIS BOOK! Oh the feels! No but really, when Simon was questioning whether Martin was Blue or not, I announced loudly to my family that if Martin was Blue I would die.

The cuteness in this book was the best. It dealt with a topic that you normally don’t see in YA but still managed to keep the awesomeness that the YA genre holds for me and managed to have me shipping people and yelling at my family about the book. (Which they totally didn’t appreciate).

Spoilers:

I felt like Simon should just have told Abby right away what happend with the blackmailing and stuff, Simon didn’t have to say it was because he was gay.

And then i thought that Abby didn’t have that big of a right to be that mad. I think she blew it out of proportion.

Who called it?? I didn’t! Though I wasn’t surprised that he was Blue because Simon noticed him during soccer practice and an alarm went off in my head that i ignored because Beckie so cleverly set it up that Bram might have a potential crush on Leah.

Omg! That explains why Bram was so uncomfortable when Simon told him to just ask Leah out already.

I really though couldn’t understand why Leah was so mad, honestly. And ack, the book should have been longer!

Is it weird if I say that I wanted to see more Bram/Simon making out?

Weirdly enough, I wanted to see them make out just as much as I would for a boy/girl pairing…which I suppose isn’t weird at all…

I love how I say ‘see’ when I mean read, cause I’m reading, not watching a movie.

I don’t know, I just love romance novels and making out and stuff with boys/girls, so why wouldn’t I want to see that with Simon and Bram????

Anyways, my friend is currently reading Carry On, and still have yet to read it, and you know what, Simon and Baz from Carry On, Simon and Bram…there’s a slight connection I feel…and Simon from Carry On is supposed to be gay Harry Potter, and Simon from this books is a Harry Potter fan…hmmm

I just really loved this book and it was just so lighthearted while dealing with stressful things and yeah, that’s enough of my incoherent rambling.

(I read people’s reviews and they’re so structured and professional and then you see mine and they’re just full of all caps and words that aren’t even real and just basically fangirling ha ha)

What’s with the funny chem stuff!? No but seriously, i read this one aloud to my family in the car and Not. One. Of. Them. Laughed.

Either my sense of humor is strange or they were ignoring me, or they have no sense of humor.

Verdict:

The perfect blend of sarcasm and adorableness! Becky Albertalli has created a beautifully heartwarming story about a topic that needs to be wrote about more often.
